DJI has released the new Ronin-SC gimbal, a lightweight version of the Ronin-S was launched in early 2018. DJI’s next-generation handheld gimbal has reduced the volume to only about 1.1 kg with tolerance. 2 kg load, suitable for most popular combinations of mirrorless camera and lenses.
DJI says the Ronin-SC is 41% lighter than the Ronin-S, which has a weight of 1.82 kg (not including a camera), making it more convenient for users to carry around. However, its perfection was cut because the Ronin-SC had a completely similar design to the S version, using steel, aluminum, and plastic composite materials. Some conspicuous changes include integrated 3-axis gimbal locking mechanism, neat design, more convenient. The design of shaft supports still provides good visibility through the camera’s LCD monitor. The mounting of the unit and lens into the gimbal when the equilibrium is done is faster. The Ronin-SC control system is similar to Ronin-S.
To harness the strength of the product, DJI redesigned the application to bring more convenience to users, including the existing features of the Ronin-S like 360-degree rotation. Some new features include Force Mobile and ActiveTrack 3.0. In which Force Mobile, similar to Force Pro, conveniently synchronizes the movement of your connected device with the Ronin-SC gimbal. Users can now operate gimbal movements at a max distance of 82 feet using the new Bluetooth 5.0 connection. With ActiveTrack 3.0 users can select a subject for the gimbal to accurately follow. The new algorithms include deep learning and optimized calculations for human figures. ActiveTrack 3.0 uses the mobile phone’s camera view and sends this information to the Ronin-SC.
