Denon DNP-2000NE HEOS Network Music Player with Quad DAC, Music Services, and HDMI

Masimo Consumer has announced the launch of the Denon DNP-2000NE music streamer, a HEOS network player that does not come with any mechanics, such as a CD or Super Audio CD player, but is highly advanced when it comes to the reproduction of music files and streaming services.

The device has been designed with a focus on decoding and D/A conversion, and it comes with four Saber ESS ES9018K2M DACs with PCM support of up to 384 kHz/32-bit sampling, as well as DSD support of up to 11.2 MHz for two channels only. The asynchronous DAC-USB connection guarantees reproduction at maximum sampling resolution for both PCM (384 kHz/32 bit) and DSD (11.2 MHz).

The Denon DNP-2000NE aims to provide versatility and comes with a variety of inputs that allow users to take advantage of the quality of the internal D/A converters. These inputs include USB-DAC (for asynchronous USB connection from a PC), coaxial, two optical Tos-Links, and an HDMI port with ARC (Audio Return Channel) and CEC support.

It also has a front USB port for connecting hard disks and pen drives, an Ethernet LAN port, and Wi-Fi support for accessing music services via the Heos platform, network music sharing via NAS (also with Roon support), and streaming/casting via AirPlay/AirPlay 2 protocols. Bluetooth support is also available.

Regarding outputs, the Denon DNP-2000NE comes with coaxial and optical Tos-Link digital outputs, a double RCA unbalanced stereo analog output with fixed or variable volume, and a headphone output.

The HEOS platform offers native access to popular streaming music services such as Spotify, Deezer (also Hi-Fi), SoundCloud, Tidal (also lossless), Napster, Amazon Music (also Unlimited and HD), Mood Mix, and other web radio via TuneIn.

Supported audio codecs are PCM, DSD, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AAC, WMA, and MP3. All of these codecs can be reproduced in Gapless and improved thanks to the “Ultra AL32 Processing” upsampling algorithm, which interpolates the 32-bit sampling. The device also offers support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri voice assistants.

Denon DNP-2000NE price and release date

The Denon DNP-2000NE will be available for purchase starting from June 2nd, and it can be pre-ordered via Bhphotovideo.com for $1,599. In comparison, Astell & Kern’s A&norma SR35, Hi Res DAP music player, which features a 3.6-inch 720p touchscreen, a large rotary control for volume, and buttons for playback control, costs $800.
