Dell XPS 17 9710: Performance upgrade with Nvidia RTX 3060 and Tiger Lake-H

On the occasion of the presentation of the new 45 watts Intel processors based on Tiger Lake, Dell is granting its new 17 inch XPS 17 a performance upgrade this year, not only for the CPU but also in terms of graphics. New Dell XPS 17 9710 touchscreen laptop now packs NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 laptop GPU.

Dell is bringing a new XPS laptop, there is also an upgrade for the 17-inch model of the XPS family, which came back on stage last year after years of abstinence. A comparatively unspectacular upgrade will follow in 2021 under model number 9710.

The new Dell XPS 17 9710 touchscreen laptop is of course equipped with the new Tiger Lake H chips, specifically, the i5-11400H, i7-11800H, i9-11900H, and i9-11980HK models. In addition to a 45 watt RTX 3050 option, the nvidia® GeForce rtx™ 3060 with 70 watts is also available, in terms of RAM and storage you can configure a maximum of 64 GB DDR4 or 4 TB PCIe 4×4 SSDs.

A 17 inch FHD + IPS display with 1,920 x 1,200 pixels or alternatively a 4K UHD + panel, also IPS, is available 3,840 x 2,400 pixel resolution and DisplayHDR400 certification, which covers 99 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

Strangely enough, there is no longer an SD card slot in the datasheet, although the pictures here do not show any changes compared to the predecessor. There is Thunderbolt 3, the battery is apparently 97 Wh. Once again, Dell couldn’t bring itself to integrate a higher resolution webcam; it remains at 720p.

The Dell XPS 17 9710 with 17-inch UHD+ touch screen, Intel Core i9-11900H, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6, and Windows 10 Pro is being sold on Amazon.com for $3,094.62.

Along with this, Dell has also made available the Alienware m15 R6 with 15.6-inch QHD 240Hz non-touch display, Intel Core i7-11800H, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD, and 8GB GDDR6 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU is now available to pre-order on Amazon for $1,949.99 and it will be available from August 1, 2021.
