Dell has introduced what it claims to be the UltraThin and lightest PC soundbar in the world. The Dell soundbar is magnetically attached to some of the company’s monitors to inconspicuously add speakers.
With an output power of just 3.6 watts RMS, however, the question arises whether the audio quality is audibly better than that of the speakers that are integrated into some of the monitors of the competition. The frequency range from 180 Hz to 20 kHz does not promise a convincing bass either, which is why Dell probably speaks of using it for calls and notifications instead of music and films. But as questionable as the audio quality is, the Slim soundbar’s design is very smart and clever.
Because the small PC soundbar is magnetically attached to the underside of selected monitors, specifically the ultra thin sound bar is compatible with the brand new Dell UltraSharp U2421E as well as with three models of the P series, namely with the P2721Q, the P3221D, and the P3421W. The connection is made using a very short USB-A cable that can be connected to the back of the monitor so that no cable should be visible from the front. A battery, an additional power cable, or special software are not required for use.
Dell underpins the title “thinnest and lightest soundbar in the world” with dimensions of just 29.8 x 1.8 x 2.4 centimeters and a weight of 114 grams.
