Dell Latitude 9430 with Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake vPro Evo 3.0, LPDDR5-5200 RAM, and FHD webcam

Dell introduced the new Latitude 9430 in 2-in-1 and classic laptop formats. The Latitude 9430 mainly offers minor improvements over last year’s Latitude 9420 and now includes Intel’s 12th Gen processors up to a Core i7 vPro, LPDDR5-5200 RAM, and WLAN 6E. The Dell 9430 meets the Intel Evo 3.0 platform requirements.

Last year, Dell offered the Latitude 9420 (approx. $1,700 on Amazon) in 2-in-1 convertible and classic laptop form factors with 11th Gen Tiger Lake-U processors, 16:10 displays, and an automatic webcam cover. This year Dell has given the Latitude 9430 Intel’s 12th Gen processors and all the benefits that come with them and the Evo 3 platform.

Dell continues to tout the Latitude 9430 as the world’s smallest 14-inch 16:10 business PC. The dimensions haven’t changed much compared to the Latitude 9420, but the weight is slightly lighter (from 1.33 kg to 1.27 kg for the laptop version).

At the heart of the new Dell Latitude laptop are Intel processors from the 12th generation up to a Core i7 with vPro. Dell does not disclose the exact CPU models here, but they are likely to be from the Alder Lake P-series. The system runs Windows 10 or Windows 11. Ubuntu support will then follow in mid-2022 for the Dell laptop Latitude 9430.

That the RAM is soldered shouldn’t come as a big surprise. However, Dell has opted for LPDDR5-5200 RAM here, which should ensure noticeably higher performance in almost all areas. In addition, M.2 2230 SSDs are again on board instead of the usual M.2 2280 SSDs.

The display options are also reminiscent of the model from the previous year. The Latitude 9430 2-in-1 uses a 16:10 QHD+ (2560 x 1600) touchscreen that supports an active stylus and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 DX, while the classic laptop version of the Latitude 9430 comes with an FHD+ display ( 1,920 x 1,200) has to make do. Both displays have a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m² and full sRGB color space coverage.

Dell has now also installed an FHD webcam with “SafeShutter”, which automatically opens and closes the cover during video calls. There’s also a new security feature that detects and warns of prying eyes, and a feature that uses Dell’s AI-based Optimizer software to dim the screen when you’re not looking at it. The connections include 1x USB 3.2 Gen. 1, 2x Thunderbolt 4, 1x HDMI 2.0, 2x microSIM cards (optional), 1x microSD card reader and a combined audio connection.

Intel’s WLAN 6E module AX210 is on board and also offers Bluetooth 5.2. Optionally, different Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE modems can be configured for specific regions or the globally deployable Snapdragon X55 5G modem. With Dell ExpressConnect you can also connect to and bridge multiple networks at the same time.

The new Dell Latitude laptop is powered by a 2-cell 40 Wh or a 3-cell 60 Wh battery with ExpressCharge 2.0 and ExpressCharge Boost.
