Dell Latitude 5521 and Latitude 5421 Productive Business Laptops with Tiger Lake-H, and Thunderbolt 4

No frills but powerful. That has always been the motto of the Latitude workstations from Dell, which are ideal for productive work on the go or in the home office and are primarily intended to be reliable workhorses. With the 14-inch Dell Latitude 5421 and the 15-inch Dell Latitude 5521, this will work even more efficiently on the basis of Tiger Lake-H.

The Latitude 5421 and Latitude 5521 can be called the successors of the Latitude 5411 and Latitude 5511, especially since the chassis doesn’t seem to have changed too much. You can see differences in the port selection or on the trackpad, but for the biggest changes, you have to unscrew the bottom of the case and look inside.

Both the Latitude 5421 and the Latitude 5521 are based on brand new Intel Tiger Lake-H technology, i.e. they rely on the new 10 nm processors of the 11th core generation but in the 45-watt version. The Dell Latitude 5421 is the 14-inch version, the Dell Latitude 5521 comes with a 15.6-inch display, in both cases, as is so often the case with Dell, there are many display options to choose from, including very questionable entry-level panels with HD resolution also more sensible touch and non-touch variants up to 4K resolution, at least with the Latitude 5521.

The new business laptops with various connections such as Thunderbolt 4, RJ45, or smart card reader weigh from 1.49 or 1.79 kilograms and come with a 64 Wh battery, the larger Latitude 5521 can also be ordered with a 97 Wh battery. These workhorses, which are almost 21 mm or 23 mm thick, will probably not be described as thin and modern looking, but they benefit from Dell’s extensive software environment for professional PCs and workstations.
