Crucial launches P5 Plus PCIe 4.0 Internal SSD with 3D NAND

The P5 Plus series expands the Crucial SSD portfolio. It includes 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD 2280 drives with PCIe4.0 x4 interface and NVMe 1.3 protocol support. These PCIe Gen 4 drives use Micron’s 176-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory and new controller technology, the exact model of which the manufacturer does not name.

The 500 GB M.2 PCIe NVMe drive claims a maximum sequential read speed of 6600 MB/s, a maximum sequential write speed of 3600 MB/s, and a resource of 300 TBW. In the case of a 1 TB PCIe 4 drive, the sequential read speed also reaches 6600 MB/s, the maximum sequential write speed is declared to be 5000 MB/s, and the resource is 600 TBW. The 2TB storage device has the same speeds, and its resource is 1200 TBW.

Recently, Seagate has also announced the FireCuda 530 internal SSD drives in the M.2 2280 format with up to 4TB NVMe capacity: the drives use the PCIe 4.0 x4 interface for data exchange, which provides high-speed performance. These SSDs are made using 176-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips (Micron B47R) and a Phison PS5018-E18 controller. The family includes four models – with a capacity of 500 GB, as well as 1, 2, and 4 TB NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4 ×4 and pricing starts from $139.99.
