Were launched last August in 1TB and 2TB models, the Crucial X6 Solid State external drive lineup has expanded with two more models. It’s a 500GB drive that costs $70 and a 4TB drive that costs $490.
Like its predecessors, the new Crucial X6 External Solid State Drive models are equipped with USB 3.2 Gen2, the signals of which are routed to the USB-C connector. However, the larger drive was also faster than the others. It claims a maximum sequential read speed of 800 MB/s, while for the other three models – 540 MB/s.
SSD External devices measuring 11 x 69 x 64 mm and weighing 40 g without consequences tolerate falls from a height of up to 2 m, vibration, exposure to low and high temperatures. A USB-C cable is included. Broader compatibility is provided by the separately sold USB-C to USB-A adapter.

The Crucial X6 Solid State External drive 500GB SSD USB costs $69.95 and $489.95 for the 4TB USB SSD, and both can be pre-ordered via the Bhphotovideo.com and Amazon.com websites.

Last month, Samsung has also expanded its 870 EVO solid state drive family with a 4TB model, priced at $479.99. These solutions are suitable for use on desktops and laptops. The Samsung Evo 870 is made in a 2.5-inch format with dimensions of 100 × 69.85 × 6.8 mm. The microchips of flash memory Samsung V-NAND MLC and the controller Samsung MKX are used.
