The latest external SSD drive from Corsair is said to be both fast and compact – despite its weight of just 22 grams, the Corsair EX100U portable SSD drive has a maximum capacity of 4 TB and data rates of up to 1,600 MB/s via USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2.
The brand-new Corsair EX100U is primarily intended to compete with the Samsung T7 (approx. $100 / £95 on Amazon) because the new Corsair storage drive is 79 x 37 x 11 millimeters, again significantly more compact, albeit a little thicker. With a weight of 22 grams, the external SSD drive does not even weigh half that of its competitors.
Although the SSD storage drive is smaller than a credit card, Corsair doesn’t cut corners when it comes to features. Because the connection to the computer is via a USB-C connector, which is connected via USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, which achieves a maximum data rate of 20 Gbit/s, i.e. 2,500 MB/s. According to Corsair, the portable SSD drive achieves a maximum write speed of 1,500 MB/s, and data can even be read at up to 1,600 MB/s.
It is also possible to operate the SSD on slower USB ports, of course, with a correspondingly lower speed. The scope of delivery includes USB-C and USB-A cables. The USB Type-C Gen 2×2 connection moves large data files in seconds at up to 20Gbps. Also includes a USB-C to USB-A cable to connect to devices with USB-A port.
Although the port has a cover that is supposed to protect against the ingress of water and dust, the SSD does not have an IP certification, in contrast to competitors such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro.

The Corsair EX100U SSD is available in UK with either 1 TB of storage for £253, 2 TB of storage for £367, or 4 TB of storage for £771. The portable SSD drive is already listed on Amazon.co.uk website.
