Catalinbread Dreamcoat and Skewer: Only in Duo pack

Catalinbread introduces two new guitar effects pedal models, which together should meet the sound of Richie Blackmore. Dreamcoat and Skewer are only available as a package for one month, later also individually. And initially with a discount only in the USA.

Catalinbread Dreamcoat and Skewer

Catalinbread Dreamcoat

The name and graphics do not suggest the function of the pedal at all. Dreamcoat is a preamp based on the circuitry of the Aiwa TP-1011, a reel-to-reel microphone preamplifier that Blackmore uses for its drive sound. You can use the Saturation knob to distort your guitar more, and optionally raise or lower the frequencies between 2.4 – 5 kHz. There is also an interesting blend control, which may also make it usable on the bass, master volume, and mic volume.

Catalinbread Skewer

There is a Treble Boost in the Skewer, which is based on the circuit of the Hornby-Skewes Treble Booster. Catalinbread has been familiar with the type of effects since the Naga Viper at the latest, so we would expect a very useful and high-quality pedal with another basic circuit. It is controlled with three controllers Skew (frequency), Boost, and Extra (gain through a silicon transistor). Sounds like a lot of flexibility for such an effect.

Price and availability

Both guitar effects pedal models are only available in duo pack – at the beginning. After August, they will be sold individually. As a small appetizer, the duo costs $299.99 on Amazon.com instead of $359.98. This probably okay for two pedals from the company, even if it is certainly a house number for distortion or boosters.

Recently, Wampler has also introduced the Gearbox overdrive pedal combines two popular drives in one housing. It includes the Tumnus and Pinnacle circuits. Oh, and it’s the new signature Wampler pedals from country shredder Andy Wood and is priced at $269.97, doesn’t sounds promising?
