Canon RF 14-35mm f4L IS USM Wide Angle Lens Introduced

Canon has introduced a new ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras with RF-mount. According to the developer, the new Canon RF 14-35mm f4L IS USM lens has the largest focal length range of any wide-angle, full-frame autofocus lens they have ever produced.

This is a more affordable wide-angle alternative to the RF 15-35mm F2.8 previously introduced in 2019. Canon claims this is the widest range covered by one of its full-frame wide-angle zooms. Autofocus is taken care of by a Nano USM motor, which delivers a maximum magnification of 0.38x at the maximum zoom setting.

Stabilized zoom provides up to 5.5 stops of correction, or up to 7 stops when used with an RF camera with sensor stabilization. It includes both Canon Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC) to minimize ghosting and flare.

The lens also offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.2 meters at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification of 0.38x (at 35mm). On the body of the new mirrorless lens, there are two toggle buttons: manual/autofocus and optical image stabilization (OS) on / off.

At the same time, the lens itself turned out to be quite compact. Taking into account the range of focal lengths, the company has managed to take a step forward in the development of optics for RF-mount cameras. The optical design of the RF 14-35mm f4L IS USM consists of three UD glass elements and three aspherical elements.

Price of the Canon RF 14-35mm f4L IS USM lens has been set at $1,699 and is now available to pre-order on the Bhphotovideo.com website.
