Canon unveils CN-E 14-35mm and 31.5-95mm T1.7 L Super35 Cine Zoom lenses

Canon has announced the release of two new Super35 Cinema lenses to its Flex Zoom lineup, the Canon CN-E 14-35mm T1.7 L and the Canon CN-E 31.5-95mm T1.7 L.

Both lenses feature an 11-blade aperture and industry-standard 0.8-pitch gears on the aperture, zoom, and focus rings.

The Canon CN-E 14-35mm T1.7 LS/SP and Canon CN-E 31.5-95mm T1.7 LS/SP cinema lenses are the fastest Super35 lenses on the market at these focal lengths ranges, according to the manufacturer.

Canon claims that they have incredible optical performance, allowing them to be used in a wide variety of shooting areas and scenarios. The CN-E 14-35mm T1.7 L and CN-E 31.5-95mm T1.7 L lenses are compact in design and weigh 3.3kg and 3.5kg, respectively.

Both the new Canon lenses feature an interchangeable mount that supports switching between EF and PL mounts. What’s more, these lenses can use Canon’s new RL-S1, RL-S2, RL-F1, and RL-F2 relay kits. However, format switching is only possible at a Canon Authorized Service Center at an additional cost.

With the help of relay kits, you can turn the already released CN-E 20-50mm T2.4 and CN-E 45-135mm T2.4 lenses into 14-35 T1.7 and 31.5-95mm lenses, respectively. Both lenses also support efficient metadata workflows via the PL mount, including Cooke/i technology and ZEISS eXtended Data, as well as a 4-pin Lemo connector. These lenses can also be used for virtual staging and post-production VFX.

In addition, these lenses feature a dual-pixel focus guide for manual focusing via the EF mount and electronic communication with compatible cameras to correct chromatic aberration and peripheral illumination.
