Bowers & Wilkins (B & W) introduced the PX headphones, a wireless model with active noise cancellation. The design is similar to that of other B & W headphones. The Bowers & Wilkins PX are equipped with an ergonomic designed soft leather coverings and memory foam cushions for comfort and weighs about 335 grams.
The 40mm drivers are derived from the P9 Signature headphones. It has a patterned ballistic nylon exterior to each cup and a more streamlined headband design. The technical specifications report a frequency response of 10Hz to 20kHz, a 22ohm impedance, a total harmonic distortion of less than 0.3% (1kHz/10mW) and a sensitivity of 111dB.
B & W declare that the active noise cancellation function has been refined to provide excellent isolation without affecting the sound quality. B & W PX comes with three operating modes are available, all selectable through the PX app for iOS and Android:
City: Reduce city noise, but stay aware of what’s happening around you.
Office: Limit background chatter and office noise, but tune into nearby discussions.
Flight: Block out engine noise during flights, and minimise cabin sounds.
Connectivity range is wide: Bluetooth 4.1 with aptX HD (up to 48kHz / 24-bit), 3.5mm jack input, and USB Type-C port that can be used to charge the integrated battery to update the firmware and car audio from computers. The PX headphones can also apply upsampling of signals at 768kHz.
B & W PX headphones are equipped with sensors that allow you to control music in an intuitive way.
Take it off and it returns to standby mode. Lift an ear cup to talk, or hang it around your neck, and PX pauses the music, resuming playback when you’re ready to listen.
The built-in battery capacity 850mAh that is rated to provide battery life up to 22 hours with Bluetooth and ANC; Up to 29 hours with Bluetooth and No ANC; Up to 33 hours with wired and ANC;
Up to 50 hours with wired and no ANC.
