Bowers & Wilkins launches Formation Flex Wireless Speaker: Price and Availability

Bowers & Wilkins announced Formation Flex multi-room speaker. The new Bowers Wilkins speakers are a compact wireless device that can be used alone, paired with a second Flex to create a stereo configuration or in combination with the Formation Bar Soundbar and the Formation Bass subwoofer, so as to compose a 5.1-channel system.

Bowers Wilkins Flex comes with cylindrical shapes and a fabric cover. The measurements are 215 (A) x 130 (L) x 130 (P) millimeters with a weight of 2.3 kilograms. Inside are housed a 25 mm decoupled double-dome tweeter (a solution derived from loudspeakers like those of last year’s 600 series) and a mid-woofer with a 100 mm woven fiberglass cone. The digital amplification section delivers 50 W x 2. The frequency response is between 50 Hz and 28 kHz.

On the upper side, touch buttons are placed to manage the main functions. The controls for adjusting the volume, play and pause.

The basic functionalities are the same as those found in the other Bowers and Wilkins products of the Formation Suite range. You can play audio files in high resolution with quality up to 96 kHz / 24-bit, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth 4.1 with aptX HD, AAC and SBC are supported. Flex is also ” Roon Ready “, optimizes the sound through an integrated DSP and is equipped with dynamic equalization. Communication with the Formation Suite devices is via a “mesh” network created specifically and optimized to ensure optimal synchrony (B W speakers – speaks of a delay of 1 microsecond).

For connectivity options include Wi-Fi, an Ethernet port and a USB port for service functions.
