The latest Bose Smart Soundbar creates convincing surround sound by combining with Bose Open Earbuds, which simulate the rear channels in a typical surround setup. With upward-firing speakers, Dolby Atmos, and AI dialogue enhancement, the soundbar boasts impressive features.
The Bose Smart Soundbar is positioned as the successor to the Smart Soundbar 600 (approx. $499 on Amazon), although the hardware has changed very little. Bose has added two new features to the soundbar. On the one hand, the new soundbar can analyze dialogues and adapt them using artificial intelligence to make them more understandable even at low volume.
On the other hand, Bose introduces “Personal Surround Sound.” This feature pairs Bose Open Earbuds with the soundbar. It simulates speakers positioned behind the user in a typical surround setup. Even without Bluetooth earphones, convincing surround sound should be possible, because Bose has installed upward-facing speakers with support for Dolby Atmos. Bose TrueSpace upscales stereo content to surround sound.
The 69-centimeter-wide Bose Smart Soundbar, one of the top Bose sound systems for home, features a total of five speakers. You can connect the soundbar to your television via HDMI eARC or Toslink, and stream music from your smartphone via Bluetooth. Bose includes a remote control for volume adjustments and input selection. Additionally, you can control the soundbar through the companion smartphone app, which also provides an equalizer to fine-tune your sound.
