The manufacturer Synology is known for its NAS systems but has also been offering its routers for some time. With the WRX560, the manufacturer has now announced a new router WiFi 6. It is optically quite unusual: The Wi-Fi 6 router is not designed as a rather wide and thus lying system but as a tower. In contrast to many conventional routers, the WRX560 does not have any externally visible antennas.

The system supports WiFi connection in both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Specifically, the WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax standard is supported, the maximum data transfer rate in the 5 GHz band is estimated at 2400 MBit/s, and in the 2.4 GHz band it should be 600 MBit/s Mesh operation with multiple routers is possible. Wired end devices can be connected via the four Ethernet ports, with one of the ports also supporting a data transmission rate of 2.5 Gbit/s. The Synology router can also be connected to a network via the 2.5 Gbit/s connection.

A chip with four cores and a clock frequency of 1.4 GHz is used as the processor, the DDR3 RAM measures 512 megabytes. The 233 x 194 x 66-millimeter system supports the SRM (Synology Router Manager) software version 1.3, which gives users access to numerous functions. Users also benefit from the extensive options for configuration and monitoring. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 port allows the connection of storage devices, which means that the WRX560 router can also be used as network storage. SRM should allow easy usability, so users are presented with a desktop GUI.
