QNAP TS-364 network storage system comes with three network bays, which support both 3.5 and 2.5 inch hard drives or SSDs. There are also two M.2 2280 slots for connecting SSDs via PCIe.

The SSDs can be used to accelerate the built-in memory by acting as a cache. The three built-in drives can also be configured as RAID 5 – then the reading speed is increased, but at the same time the failure of one drive can be compensated. In RAID 5 mode, QNAP puts the maximum achievable read speed at 271 megabytes/s, while reading at 251 megabytes/s should be only slightly less. Three SSDs were used for this – a 2.5 GBit network infrastructure is also required to achieve data transfer rates of well over 100 MB/s.

An Intel Celeron N5105 or N5095 with four cores with a maximum clock frequency of 2.9 GHz and without hyperthreading is installed. The main memory measures four gigabytes, but can be expanded to 16 gigabytes – two DDR4 slots are available for this purpose. An HDMI 1.4b port is built-in for direct image output, plus two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, whereby the storage capacity can also be expanded using a corresponding housing.
