Garmin introduces Venu Sq 2 series with larger OLED displays, longer runtimes, SpO2 sensor, and improved GPS

Garmin unveiled the Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 Music at IFA 2022, both new best GPS watches featuring significant improvements over their predecessors. Featuring larger OLED screens and better battery life than the Venu Sq series, the Venu Sq 2 series also offers plenty of health tracking features, but at a higher starting price.

Garmin Venu Sq 2 best GPS watches

Garmin has finally introduced the Venu Sq 2 series, having already introduced several new smartwatches this year. As expected, the Venu Sq 2 also comes in a ‘Music’ variant and features some design changes from its predecessor. Specifically, Garmin has equipped the smartwatch with narrower bezels, and a larger screen, and removed its printed logo from the front of the device.

Not only does the Venu Sq 2 series launch with a larger 1.41-inch display, but it also relies on AMOLED technology, rather than the IPS alternatives that Garmin used in the Venu Sq. As a result, the 360 x 320-pixel screen supports always-on display (AOD) functionality, as well as superior color reproduction and lower power consumption. With that in mind, Garmin claims the Venu Sq 2 series offers up to 11 days of battery life between charges, putting it well ahead of the Venu Sq and Venu Sq Music.

Unsurprisingly, the Venu Sq 2 series is water resistant up to 5ATM and comes with Garmin’s usual suite of health and exercise modes, plus an NFC module for Garmin Pay support. Besides, both smartwatches come with GPS modules, but only the Venu Sq 2 Music can stream music via Amazon Music, Deezer, and Spotify.

Garmin Venu Sq 2 price and release date

The Garmin Venu Sq 2 starts at $249.99 in three colors, including Metallic Mint. Available only as a 40mm smartwatch, the Venu Sq 2 drops to $299.99 for the Music Edition, which also comes in three color variants. These new best GPS watches from Garmin are already available on Adorama.com, Bestbuy.com, and Amazon.com.

Earlier this month, Garmin also introduced a new Enduro 2 multisport and outdoor waterproof solar watch that should impress with a long running time, and therefore, it should be recommended for both ultra runs and extended trekking tours. It has been priced at $1,099.99.
