What are beneficial changes?

The innovation retains the attractive features of the Liberty 2 Pro, including automatic sound correction for the individual characteristics of the listener (HearID) and a rich collection of equalizer presets, partly compiled by iconic Grammy-winning sound engineers. With the smartphone, you can check whether you have chosen the right nozzle or not, it sounds like a small thing but is useful. Battery life remained the same, although the earbuds and charging case have become lighter and smaller. Apart from this, the case has got a backlight which is not only pleasing to the eye but also helps in understanding whether the earbuds are installed in the case or not. The Soundcore mobile app, where all the innovative features have been implemented, still works stably and clearly.

The Bluetooth interface version has been updated from 5.0 to 5.2, but aptX support has disappeared. It has been replaced by the more advanced LDAC, which should benefit the experience of those who have a source supporting this codec. The wireless noise cancelling earbuds adapts not only to the environment but also to a specific user, moreover, based on test measurements. That hasn’t happened yet.

The landing of the noise canceling earbuds is comfortable. Contact with the user’s ear is made at three points, which distribute and reduce the pressure force. The special design of the waveguides allows you to remove excess pressure from the auditory canal so that the wearer does not get tired of as long as possible.

Another useful solution is a 3D sound processor that works on the proprietary Soundcore algorithm, which few brands can boast of. And even then, some, for example, Apple and Sony, require a paid subscription to services where specially prepared tracks are posted. And with Soundcore, immersive sound is available for your entire collection. Finally, the best buy wireless earbuds Liberty 3 Pro is equipped with new ACAA 2.0 coaxial drivers, which adds a new listening experience to your favorite tracks.

HearID ANC

Why you need active noise cancellation, everyone who enjoys music on the road – on the subway or plane knows firsthand. But the benefits of adaptability should be discussed separately. Modern ANC systems practically do not change the sound quality of tracks. Nevertheless, there is an influence, and the higher the degree of noise suppression, the greater it is. In addition, the more noise canceling acts, the more actively it consumes energy. To save charge, you need to work with the noise level that is relevant in a particular place and at a certain moment.

The system needs to know two things in order to function correctly: how effective the passive isolation is and how loud the ambient noise is. Information about the first headphone is obtained as a result of preliminary testing. First, they check the correctness of the choice of nozzles and the installation of cases in the ears, then they measure the sound penetrating from the outside with the built-in microphone, comparing it with the signal from the external microphone. At the same time, the system ensures that the environment is suitable for such measurements. If testing the tightness of the auditory canal, the place should be quiet, and for tests for passive soundproofing – noisy. In the future, there is enough data received from an external microphone. And additional information like GPS locations is not collected at the same time – unlike some other ANCs.

The frequency balance remains constant at any intensity of ANC operation: the system doesn’t introduce distortion, doesn’t change bass and volume levels. But if it’s quiet around, it’s better to turn off the noise reduction. Not only for the sake of saving energy but also because it introduces a certain level of high-frequency background noise that does not depend on adaptation. However, it is noticeable only in the pauses between tracks, and then if you turn ANC on and off. It doesn’t matter to most listeners, but perfectionists should.

Connectivity and battery life

Communication stability is impeccable. Two interior partitions plus an open refrigerator door make their way through without any interference or stumbling. Only reinforced concrete floors between floors can momentarily interrupt the signal. The audibility of your voice during phone conversations is excellent – these earbuds can be safely used as a headset.

Battery life is as advertised. Naturally, with adjustments for the volume level, the codec used ANC and 3D conversion. At a level of about 60% and 3D processing, the earbuds lasted more than 7 hours. To get the declared 8, you need to turn off 3D and make it a little quieter. So it’s all fair.

Accuracy and Expression

The general nature of the sound of Liberty 3 Pro is close to the previous model. Close, but not identical. Although the tuning was done with similar ideas about the correct sound, still the quality capabilities of the models differ. Firstly, it received an upgraded driver, and secondly, the LDAC codec. It must be admitted that its effect is stronger than that of aptX in the previous tool of the series. The wireless noise cancelling earbuds are hybrid, so the engineers successfully “scattered” the reproduction of frequencies between the drivers. Those who have dealt with hybrids will understand.

Switching from AAC to LDAC significantly increases the resolution in the upper part of the range. Perhaps even redundant, since AAC achieves an almost perfect tonal balance. On high-quality recordings, the transition to LDAC is perceived as great, but on mediocre ones, due to the high level of compression, there may be a feeling of harshness, and sometimes even harmonic distortion. However, this is a matter of taste – someone will like this sound, and someone will even add more highs in the equalizer.

To subjective hearing, the Soundcore Signature preset is the most accurate and expressive – the one that was compiled on the recommendations of 20 Grammy winners. However, the most pleasant discovery awaited us when 3D Surround Sound was activated. True, for this we had to abandon LDAC – this codec is incompatible with immersive sound. Everyone will decide for himself, but the 3D option seemed preferable to us.

The scale of the scene has increased significantly, it has acquired a clear depth. In standard mode, musicians seem to have lined up on the ramp, so in a 3D mode, they sat down, like in the studio while recording. Vocals are at the forefront, the drummers are behind him at a distance, rest of the instruments are on the side of the soloist and in a semicircle behind him. If earlier all sound sources were brought together in a dense lump located in the head, then in 3D they no longer interfere with each other. That’s what music sounds like in good full-size headphones.

The frequency balance seemed even more accurate than without 3D and with LDAC – the highs did not increase, the range seemed to extend upwards. The resolution at the top has clearly improved, but the sharpness has not appeared, the sound remains soft, clean, and comfortable. The bass is natural, clear, and deep. The company does not say what processing algorithm is used, but it works great. Not only does it increase the sound space but it also makes the music more emotional.
