BenQ TH690ST short-throw projector with 8 ms and 120 Hz for console games

With the TH690ST, BenQ is launching a new short-throw 1080p projector that, with a short response time of 8 ms and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, is primarily aimed at gamers and is said to be suitable for console games.

A few days ago, BenQ launched the TH690ST, a new short-throw projector that is aimed at gamers. According to the manufacturer, the gaming projector is suitable for console games and is already available or listed in various retailers.

The BenQ TH690ST is a 4LED-based DLP short-throw projector that can project an image size of up to 100 inches from a distance of 150 cm to the screen or wall. According to the manufacturer, with its 1.2x zoom, up to 150 inches are possible, for which the projector then has to be 2.3 m away from the projection surface. Horizontal and vertical keystone correction help with image alignment.

The resolution of the BenQ TH690ST is Full HD, i.e. 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The refresh rate is high at 120 Hz, and the response time is at a low 8.3 ms. It means that the projector is also suitable for gaming, but not only. According to the manufacturer, it should have an image brightness of 2,300 ANSI lumens, a contrast ratio of 500,000:1, 30-bit color depth (1.07 billion colors), and 98 percent Rec. 709 and 84 percent DCI-P3 color space coverage, even when playing movies and the like cut a fine figure.

In addition to HDR10 and 3D support, the BenQ TH690ST also features two 5-watt speakers. Various connections are waiting to be used on the back, including HDMI 2.0b, RS232, S/PDIF, USB-A, and a 3.5 mm jack. The life of the light source is specified as 30,000 hours in ECO mode, which corresponds to a service life of around 21 years with daily use of around 4 hours.

BenQ TH690ST short-throw 1080p projector is already available on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk online stores at $999.

Last week LG also made available the ProBeam BU53PST 4K projector is designed for professional use, with a throw ratio of 0.94 and a maximum image size of 300 inches (~762 cm). The best short throw projector has a brightness of up to 5000 lumens and has built-in speakers, and is priced at $4,299.
