Beats Powerbeats Pro 2: Latest Wireless Earbuds with Heart Rate Sensor

The newest wireless earbuds, Beats Powerbeats Pro 2, are here. They have a completely redesigned design and a lighter casing, and they have some interesting new features, led by a heart rate sensor. Unlike the AirPods Pro, the Powerbeats Pro version 2 is fully compatible with Android smartphones.

Today, Apple unveiled the successor to the popular Powerbeats Pro. The high-quality earphones offer a brand-new design that looks more modern and improves comfort by reducing the weight by 20 percent and developing a new nickel-titanium alloy ear hook.

Tests have been carried out with over 1,000 athletes to optimize the fit. The result is the most comfortable Beats earphones to date, or at least that’s what the manufacturer’s marketing claims. The housing is IPX4 certified and protected against sweat and rain. Dedicated buttons instead of a touch surface allow you to control playback and volume even with sweaty hands. The battery life increases to ten hours of music playback, or 45 hours, with the 33 percent more minor charging case. Charging is possible via a USB-C cable or a Qi charging pad.

Heart Rate Sensor Is Just the Beginning of Its Advanced Features

The most significant technical innovation is the integrated heart rate sensor, designed to provide real-time data during a workout so that you can monitor your performance even without a smartwatch. The Beats app works with Android smartphones and provides access to active noise cancellation (ANC), transparency mode, and the equalizer. The earphones also support 3D audio with dynamic head tracking.

The Apple H2 chip, already known as the Apple AirPods Pro 2 (REVIEW), is responsible for all these innovative features. Apple took the microphones directly from the AirPods, which should improve call quality. iPhone users get automatic device switching, “Hey Siri,” and integration with Apple’s “Find My Beats” app, while Android users at least have “Find My Beats” in the Beats app as a substitute. Apple has not commented on the supported codecs, but the H2 chip is unlikely to support Hi-Fi codecs such as aptX Adaptive or LDAC.
