Astell&Kern launches flagship A&ultima SP2000T with 4 DAC chips and Hybrid Amp

Astell&Kern has just teased its new flagship portable music player with the name A&ultima SP2000T. Upgraded from SP2000, Astell and Kern said that SP2000T is the first digital music player equipped with 4 DAC chips and a Triple Amp system: lamp, semiconductor, and hybrid.

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP2000T

Astell&Kern SP2000T is powered by 4 ESS ES9068AS DAC chips for the ability to decode the highest quality music files available today and support MQA 8X rendering. The SP2000T is also the first product equipped with a Triple Amp system that allows users to choose between 3 modes: Amp light, semiconductor, or a combination of both. Astell&Kern also features a 3.5mm connection and a balanced 2.5mm and 4.4mm port.

The SP2000T supports 32-bit / 384 kHz and DSD256 (11.2 MHz) native playback without compression or loss. The quad 32-bit DAC ensures bit-to-bit playback with no reduction in bit depth or sample rate. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) with an improved three-dimensional antenna design.

The SP2000T combines the opamp configuration of the SP2000 with the nostalgic vacuum-tube amplifier adding a vintage feel to the portable player. The user will be able to select between tube amp mode, normal amp mode (opamp), or a hybrid amp mode, a first for digital audio players. This enhanced amp technology brings a unique sound experience, allowing the user to select their preferred sound profile and take their acoustics to a new level.
