Not so long ago, the Atomos introduced an updated Atomos Ninja V+ monitor-recorder and a device for streaming Ninja Stream. The latter, however, was intended only for rent, which was not particularly good news for most users. To provide more options for live filmmakers, Atomos has released AtomX CAST, which turns the Ninja V / V + into a powerful and compact multi-input switcher.

To work, you will need to insert the Ninja V / V + into the CAST module, connect the AtomX port, and secure the monitor-recorder to the module with a screw. The new broadcast product is ready.

At the bottom of the CAST module, there are 4 function buttons and 4 camera selection buttons, the buttons are highlighted, as is customary for this kind of device so you can control which camera images are broadcast. At the top of the device are four HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, a power input, and a USB port.

The USB port in AtomX CAST can be used to load various graphics such as logos, titles, and splash screens. A UVC capable computer will see the CAST as a webcam, so you can stream live to different platforms like Zoom, Skype, Twitch, Facebook Live, etc.

When the Ninja V / V + is docked to the CAST, the recorder’s 5-inch touchscreen monitor can be used for setup, as well as a live operator monitor to see all four inputs simultaneously, as well as monitor audio levels.

The Ninja V / V + Monitor Recorder’s HDMI output can be used as an auxiliary output to connect additional multi-screen preview devices.

AtomX CAST price and availability

The Atomos AtomX CAST is available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com and Adorama.com for $399. There will also be a Ninja CAST Bundle, which will include the Atomos Ninja V and AtomX CAST for $949 and it is also available to pre-order on the Bhphotovideo.com website. It is a pity that the company does not produce presentation videos, it would be interesting to see how this equipment works in practice.
