Atomos introduces Shogun Studio, AtomOS 6.5 and discount on older HD Recorders

Atomos has introduced a new professional 4K video recorder called a Shogun Studio with two LCD screens on the same device.Atomos-Shogun-StudioThe Atomos Shogun Studio video recorder/monitor supports two video channels simultaneously, allowing to record 4K 30p or HD 120p videos in real time with a variety of different codecs. It has two 7-inch LCD screen with high 1920x1200p resolution which mounted on a base. Shogun Studio measures 490x152x251mm and weighs only 5kg. Obviously you can not mount it on a handheld camcorder and which must pass through the wire connection in situations such as live broadcast of major events.

The Shogun Studio records 10-bit, 4:2:2 UHD 4K and HD video to Apple ProRes HQ, 422, or LT formats. It can also record HD video using Avid’s DNxHD format and UHD 4K video using Avid’s DNxHR. Video is recorded to single or raided 2.5″ HDD and SDDs for fast and reliable write speeds.

The Shogun Studio supports Tally function, custom 3D LUTs, Genlock In for multi-camera syncing. There are also a variety of onscreen tools to help you set up your shots, including a full waveform monitor, RGB parade display, vectorscope, focus peaking, and framing, focus, and exposure assisting tools.Samurai-Blade,-Ninja-Blade,-Ninja-2

The Atomos Shogun Studio will be available for purchase on next month, priced $3495. Also with the launch of Shogun Studio, Atomos has unveiled new pricing for their HD recorders include Atomos Samurai Blade Recorder, Ninja Blade, and new Ninja 2. The selling price of these three devices below:

Atomos also announced a new AtomOS 6.5 for two Atmos Shogun and Atomos Ninja Assassin recorders with some changes:

Updates for the Shogun:

  • Canon C500 Raw and C300 Mk II Raw to ProRes and DNXHR recording, giving C500 users a viable 4K recording solution and C300MKII users a cost effective alternative to CFast recording media
  • New 3D LUT’s preloaded onto the unit specifically for C500 and C300 MkII
  • Start/stop trigger for JVC and Ikegami camera triggers
  • Added LTC input via the Genlock input

Updates for the Ninja Assassin:

  • Motion Blur added to Time-lapse, blurring up to 64 continuous frames together in one sequence
  • New and improved frame guides added for 16:9, 2.40:1, 2.35:1, 1.9:1, 1.85:1, 4:3
    1:1 and 2:1 zoom can now be selected when anamorphic de-squeeze is enabled
