With the ATH-TWX9, Audio-Technica has introduced true wireless earphones that rely on a relatively eye-catching design, especially since the charging case looks significantly large compared to most of its competitors. There is a reason for this because the charging case has integrated UV LEDs that disinfect the earphones.

The method is said to be more than 99 percent effective against E. coli and more than 90 percent effective against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, but the manufacturer emphasizes that UV light cannot kill all types of bacteria and viruses.

The newly developed drivers with a diameter of 5.8 millimeters are primarily intended to deliver better high tones, and a frequency range of 10 Hz to 47 kHz can be transmitted using Qualcomm aptX Adaptive. The ATH-TWX9 noise canceling headphones support Sony 360 Reality Audio and Qualcomm cVc 8.0 to filter out background noise during phone calls.

The active noise cancellation can be adjusted to your preferences using five presets, with a transparency mode also being supported. Just like the equalizer, these features can be set up directly in the associated app. The battery lasts up to six hours, or 18.5 hours including the charging case, charging is either via USB-C or wirelessly. An IPX4 certification promises protection against rain and sweat.
