CES 2021 | Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE Dual Display Gaming Laptop With AMD Ryzen

Last year there was still the Core i9-10980HK, in 2021 Asus will switch exclusively to the new AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and Ryzen 9 5900HX processors in the new dual-screen ROG gaming laptop Zephyrus Duo 15 SE. The not exactly cheap overall package includes the new GPU options from Nvidia, a Geforce RTX 3080.

Gamers can also use more displays. What began last year with the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 will be continued this year with the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE. Asus has not only optimized the chassis, but the internals has of course also been brought up to date. Losers at the 2021 update are Intel – Intel a corresponding option is – at least currently – is not provided, instead installed Asus either an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and Ryzen 9 5900HX.

Asus jumps from Intel’s Comet Lake-H chips to the Zen 3 architecture and cools the whole thing with “Liquid Metal”, i.e. liquid metal thermal paste, five heat pipes, and four heat sinks – at Asus this is called Active Aerodynamic System Plus (AAS +). The new Ampere cards from Nvidia are available as GPU options: GeForce RTX 3070 with 8 GB of RAM or RTX 3080 with 16 GB of RAM, with Asus promising clock rates of up to 1645 MHz and a TDP of 115 watts.

Not only the CPU and GPU are new, but there are also upgrades to report on the display. The 15.6-inch main display can now also be ordered as a 120 Hz 4K panel with full Adobe RGB coverage; a response time of 3ms is promised here. Both the 14.1-inch second display and the chassis itself remain unchanged compared to the predecessor, Asus does not offer Thunderbolt support here.

Price and availability

The Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE pricing starts from $2,899,99 for the RTX 3070, 1TB PCIe SSD, and $3,699,99 for RTX 3080, 2x 1TB PCIe SSD in RAID 0. It is already listed on the Bhphotovideo.com website, so probably sometime in February.
