Asus ROG Strix SCAR 17 2023 with Zen 4 Ryzen 9 processor and up to RTX 4090

Asus has refreshed its ROG Strix gaming laptops with next-generation Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 GPUs and 13th Gen Intel Zen 4/AMD CPUs. The new devices include the Asus ROG Strix SCAR 17 and Asus ROG Strix SCAR 16. The new ROG Strix SCAR 17 QHD laptop has been upgraded with a high-end Ryzen 9 7000 Zen 4 CPU and GeForce RTX 4090 mobile GPU.

At CES 2023, Asus announced the new ROG Strix SCAR 17 2023, which features premium hardware and a significantly improved cooling solution. The desktop replacement measures 395 x 282 x 23.4-28.3mm and features a clean design with the familiar illuminated Asus logo on the back and an RGB light bar on the front.

The ROG Strix SCAR 17 QHD laptop features a 17-inch IPS display with a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and (2560 x 1440) resolution, as well as Dolby Atmos-certified speakers. Asus claims the display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut while being compatible with Nvidia G-SYNC and Dolby Vision HDR.

It is powered by a mobile-series Ryzen 9 7000 processor and a 16GB RTX 4090 on GeForce with a maximum TGP of 175W. There is also a MUX switch to eliminate any potential bottlenecks. These two components are cooled by a combination of liquid metal and a vapor chamber.

Additionally, the laptop is configurable with 64GB of user-replaceable DDR5 4800MHz memory and up to 2TB of PCIe 4 storage. There is also an empty M.2 slot if you want to expand the storage later.

The network connectivity of the ROG Strix SCAR 17 QHD laptop is provided by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The laptop also has an Ethernet port that can handle speeds of 2.5 Gbps. Other ports include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 support. Unfortunately, only one of the Type-C ports offers Power Delivery 3.0. There is also a single HDMI 2.1 connector, a 3.5mm combo jack, and a single DC input for power.

Powerful gaming laptops are not known for their endurance, but ASUS offers a 90 Whr battery that you can quickly recharge with a 100 W charger that comes in the box.

The Asus ROG Strix SCAR 17 2023 is now listed on Newegg.com and Amazon.co.uk. Pricing starts at $2,899, and it will be released next month.
