Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM 4K HDR QD-OLED display with 240 Hz and HDMI 2.1

The Taiwanese company Asus introduced the new 4K HDR high-refresh-rate monitor, ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM, at CES 2024. Now available online, the 26.5-inch model also features a fourth-generation QD-OLED panel. Anti-Flicker 2.0 reduces flickering by up to 20 percent compared to previous QD-OLED generations. The new QD display has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K), achieves a maximum of 240 Hz, and is certified according to DisplayHDR True Black 400.

The manufacturer specifies the contrast ratio as 1,500,000:1, the response time as 0.03 ms (gray to gray), the color depth as 10 bits, and the brightness as 250 cd/m² (SDR), 450 cd/m² (HDR, 10 percent APL), or 1000 cd/m² (HDR, 3 percent APL). The gaming monitor with a high refresh rate also has 145 percent sRGB, 99 percent DCI-P3, and a Delta-E value of less than 2. G Sync ™ Compatible and AMD FreeSync ™ Premium Pro Adaptive Sync ensure tearing-free gaming. Alternatively, ELMB is available as a mode to combat moving image blur.

In addition to classic HDR10, Asus also implements Dolby Vision support. As part of Anti-Flicker 2.0, you can limit the refresh rate directly in the OSD with options like “High,” “Medium,” and “Off.” Additionally, in terms of connections, the device includes a DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20, 80 Gbit/s), two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a USB 3.2 hub (Gen 1), a headphone output, and USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate mode, along with 90-watt PD support. We have also considered a KVM switch.

Asus PG27UCDM Price and Release Date

In the USA, the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM can be purchased as part of a pre-order phase on Newegg, but the first contingents were already sold out at the time of this addendum. The product costs $1,099.99.

Regarding ergonomics, there is little to be desired, as the monitor offers tilt, rotation, height adjustment (120 mm), pivot, VESA mount (100 x 100 mm), and blue light filtering. Moreover, for higher frame rates or reduced input lag, you can switch to a 4:3 format with 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 960 pixels or opt for a 24.5-inch image with 2368 x 1332 pixels and 240 Hz at any time. Additionally, a fanless custom heatsink cools the OLED monitor’s HDMI 2.1 panel, which comes with a three-year warranty covering burn-in effects.

Picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes allow content from multiple sources to be displayed simultaneously. The Asus PG27UCDM weighs 4.97 kg without the stand. It has a person detection sensor that is part of ROG OLED Care Pro and can switch to a black image when a person is no longer near the device. The user can adjust the detection distance.
