After Zenvolution back in September this year, ASUS is ready to make available its new ROG XG Station 2, a product designed for all gamers who love to play high-end games on their laptop, but do not want to give up the power of a desktop graphics card.
The idea of an external Graphics Card Dock for Laptops to improve 3D performance of the laptop is not new, there are many manufacturers who had designed and available to buy on the market. The new ROG XG Station 2 can upgrade compatible laptops to full desktop gaming performance. The most attractive part is the ability to upgrade the graphics card solution for your laptop whenever you like.
With the launch of the Thunderbolt interface, things have slightly changed, making it possible to these dock to release all the potential of the latest generation GPUs. The ASUS ROG XG Station 2 is also Thunderbolt 3 External Graphics Card (40 Gbps), it also features a gigabit Ethernet controller and a 4 x USB 3.0 ports.
Apart from the full of Republic of Gamers style design, and fits within a classic PCi-E x16 connector and a power supply from 600W 80Plus Gold (with PCI-E 6 + 8 pin connectors); 500W are designed for video card, while the remaining 100 can be used to recharge the laptop. But the icing on the cake is a cooling system with three 70mm fans.
It can support the latest graphics cards such as the ROG Strix GTX 1080, and also supports the latest offerings from AMD, such as the ROG Strix RX 480. For future cards, XG Station 2 can accommodate full-length graphics cards up to 2.5 slots wide. All the latest ROG Strix graphics cards support Aura Sync and GPU Tweak II to help you get the best performance possible.
As of now the company has not provided information on the price yet, but it confirms that the ASUS ROG XG Station 2 external graphics card enclosure for laptops will be available on the market during the first quarter of 2017.
