With the AX2700 (RT-AX68U), Asus wants to offer a stylish wireless internet router with powerful functions. One of the functions is to protect owners in public networks.
The Asus AX2700 is a MIMU router with three antennas. According to the manufacturer, WiFi 6 (WiFi 802.11ax) is supported, which should allow a theoretical data transfer rate of 2,700 Mbit/s – as usual, this theoretical value should not be achievable, especially not in problematic conditions and obstacles such as walls.
For use in unfavorable conditions or in very large apartments or properties, the use of several routers in mesh mode is ideal, for which the AX2700 supports Asus AiMesh.
With Instant Guard, Asus also offers a new app that can be used to securely use public WiFi networks. In contrast to other VPN solutions, Instant Guard runs on the AX2700 at home. Mobile devices connected to the VPN should benefit from the virus protection solution installed on the AX2700.
The new wireless internet router, which is 266.18 x 295.55 x 59.66 mm with antennas, has 512 megabytes of RAM. The obligatory WAN port is supplemented by four Gigabit Ethernet ports. There is also one USB 3.2 Gen 1 and one USB 2.0 port.
Asus AX2700 price and availability
The AX2700 WiFi 6 router should go on sale in January. It has already been listed on Amazon.com for $199.99.
Along with this wireless router, ASUS has also unveiled the flagship ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 Gaming WiFi 6E Router. The developer calls the best WiFi 6E Router 2021 for gaming: the world’s first gaming router with Wi-Fi 6E standard, which provides for the use of the 6 GHz band. Wi-Fi 6E technology is designed to provide high performance in very busy places. According to preliminary tests, data transfer rates can reach 2 Gb/s with latencies of 2 ms.
