AstrHori has unveiled the 85mm F1.8 autofocus portrait lens for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. The medium focal length of the lens is ideal for portraiture. It can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 127.5mm equivalent focal length.
The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also offers a wealth of control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.
A good quality image is achieved even though the aperture is fully open, which is well-suit for a rich detail of a portrait. The lens features an STM motor for quick, quiet autofocus performance. After receiving the signal from the camera body, the lens can quickly drive the lens to ensure getting clear images, and in the case of continuous focusing to ensure that the focus point can follow the speed of the moving object.
A multi-layer coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. Included lens hood shades the front element from flare-causing stray light and also offers some additional physical protection.
AstrHori 85mm F1.8 adopts high-precision metal bayonet and gold-plated contacts, which can effectively improve signal conductivity and corrosion resistance. At the same time, it can maintain reliable communication between the camera and the lens, and realize functions such as autofocus, aperture control, and more.
