The Apple Watch Series 10 is here, featuring a brand new design that is thinner and has a larger display with improved always-on functionality. It offers a choice of aluminum or titanium cases, a redesigned speaker, and a new Apple S10 ARM-SiP, bringing several new features to the smartwatch.
Design and Display
For the first time since the launch of the Series 7, Apple is revising the design more extensively than it may seem at first glance. The case is 10 percent thinner and slightly larger to make room for even larger OLED displays that are supposed to be easier to read even from steep viewing angles.
The new Apple Series 10 updates its always-on display once per second instead of once per minute. This change allows the second hand to appear in always-on mode as well. The basic model features an aluminum case, like the previous version, but now includes a new glossy black finish. Additionally, a polished, glossy titanium case is available for an extra charge. Note that a stainless steel option is not offered.
New Features
In addition to the design adjustments, Apple is introducing several new features, including sleep apnea detection to help identify one of the most common sleep disorders. The Apple i Watch 10 Series now includes a diving app that shows users their depth underwater, up to 6 meters—a feature already present in the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which measures depths up to 40 meters. The app also shows the water temperature.
Audio and Battery
The updated speaker lets you listen to podcasts and music directly from the Apple Watch for the first time. This is possible even without Bluetooth earphones. Unfortunately, despite the new Apple S10 ARM-SiP, the battery life stays at 18 hours. However, charging should be faster than before.
