The AOC AG256FS is a new gaming monitor featuring an exceptionally high refresh rate and HDR certification. However, the technology used may not highlight high-contrast content as its strongest attribute.
AOC also offers high-performance monitors for video gamers under the Agon brand. This series is now being expanded to include another model, the Agon PRO AG256FS, with the manufacturer prioritizing fast image reproduction over image quality.
AOC Agon PRO AG256FS supports the so-called MBR-Sync. “MBR” stands for “Motion Blur Reduction”, a mode that prevents blurring in moving images. Meanwhile, “MBR-Sync” indicates that the anti-blur tool can be used in a similar way to ELMB-Sync or Aim Stabilizer Sync together with an anti-tearing technology (in this case FreeSync).
According to the official specs, the Display HDR400 certified 24.5-inch gaming monitor uses an IPS panel, has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) at up to 390 Hz, and promises a 1 ms grayscale change.
The contrast ratio is 1000:1, the typical brightness is 400 cd/m², the color depth is 8 bits, and the power consumption is 35 watts. Additionally, the display covers 99% of the sRGB color space and has a Delta-E value of less than 2.
Other features include picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes, a black stabilizer, an FPS display, Light FX lighting, a side headphone hook, and crosshair overlays. Interfaces include two HDMI 2.0 inputs (Full HD at max. 240 Hz), a DisplayPort 1.4 (Full HD at max. 390 Hz), a USB 3.2 hub (Gen 1), and a headphone output.
You can tilt, rotate, adjust the height, and pivot the screen. The design also includes a VESA mount (100 x 100 mm), a blue light filter, and a flicker-free backlight.
