The Blazar 50mm T1.8 APEX 1.33x Anamorphic autofocus lens is now available for order. We previously wrote about this fascinating line of anamorphic optics for Canon RF, Sony E, Nikon Z, and L with S35 APS-C coating in the news. Detailed specifications of the first of the two promised lenses have appeared.

According to the company, the main feature of the Blazar APEX Anamorphic AF 1.33x lenses is that these are the world’s first anamorphic autofocus lenses for RF, E, Z, and L. The lenses are compact; they cover the S35 APS-C sensor and are equipped with advanced eye-tracking technology for fast autofocus.
They promise a cinematic 1.5x look, considering the anamorphic compression of 1.33x. With the Blazer Sony E-mount anamorphic lens, autofocus is quick and accurate, while the lenses can be switched to manual focus mode.

Venus Optics recently introduced the Laowa Nanomorph 60mm T2.9 1.5x Macro 1:2 Anamorphic Lens for Super35 sensors. Interestingly, it not only offers macro capabilities but also features anamorphic compression, making it a highly versatile tool for filmmakers. Furthermore, its T2.9 aperture provides a shallow depth of field and creates distinctive oval bokeh, enhancing the lens’s ability to deliver dramatic and cinematic shots.
The lens is now available for pre-order on B&H Photo Video at $1,999. Moreover, it offers Amber, Blue, and Silver flare options, allowing filmmakers to choose the visual tone that best suits their creative vision.
