NUX has had interesting effects, amps, and helpers in its range for a long time. Now the company is again devoting itself to the spectrum of effects and introducing the Duotime, a digital stereo delay pedal that should make some friends, not least because of the price.

The structure is typical of NUX, with 7 controls, display, and two-foot switches. Since it is a digital delay pedal, the functions are not rocket science and are quickly explained: Level, Type, Time 1, Time 2, Repeat 1, Repeat 2, and parameters. In addition, the footswitches On/Off and Tap-Tempo, which when moved together activate the Looper mode and can then be used as Rec / Play / Dub.
The pedal can be used mono and stereo, can be scaled from mono to stereo, but cannot use both delays via mono. Mono in and dual, mono out or dual-mono in and dual mono out. Depending on the selected delay type, the parameter control fulfills a different function: Mod Depth, Saturation, Hardness, and Reverb / Shimmer.
The Nux Duotime emulates the following features from the 1980s:
- Analog (BBD)
- Tape Echo (Roland Space Echo)
- Digi Delay (Lexicon)
- Modulation Delay (Ibanez DML)
- Shimmer (known from Atlantic Delay & Reverb)
So you can use it to create exciting stereo setups. It’s a shame that the delays cannot simply be switched in series and only run in parallel. Different delay types for both channels as well. Of course, a serial effect can be tinkered with a cable from Out 1 to In 1, we would have found that more practical using a toggle switch and a simple connection inside.
Overall, the Duotime offers 1800 ms delay time, 40 seconds loop time, and a display with MS / BPM display (can be set separately for both channels) and the current mode. We think you can do a lot with that.
