Amazon launched the Smart Air Quality Monitor, a new product for Amazon air purifier models for its Alexa ecosystem. The sensor measures the air quality in a room and communicates this via Alexa.
Amazon announced a new Smart Air Quality Monitor that measures the air quality in a room to provide information about possible air pollutants. As is well known, these occur much more frequently indoors than in the fresh air.
The smart device measures five different factors to help customers keep an eye on the air quality inside a building and, if necessary, improve it through ventilation or air purifiers. The device monitors particulate matter (PM), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide (CO), humidity, and temperature.
If the device detects a change in air quality, users can receive a notification via the Alexa app or an announcement on an Echo device. Alternatively, all compatible Alexa-enabled air purifier for home or other devices can be asked about the air quality in the room equipped with a Smart Air Quality Monitor. In addition, with the appropriate equipment, it should also be possible to automatically switch on an Alexa-compatible Amazon air purifier when critical values are measured.
Via an Echo Show, which is currently on offer alongside other Amazon devices, or the Alexa app, users can also call up detailed information on the air quality value and the air quality over time. In addition, Alexa uses these methods to provide simple tips for improving indoor air. Unfortunately, there is no small display on the device to see the current air values at a glance. This offers e.g. B. the HomeKit sensor Eve Room.
