Huawei’s latest true wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation are finally coming to the US. The FreeBuds 6 offers exceptional comfort thanks to their open design without silicone ear tips, without compromising sound quality.

Huawei announced the FreeBuds 6 in March in China, and has now confirmed that the wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation are available on Amazon. The FreeBuds 6 feature an unusual design that distributes the weight of the earbuds across the ear cups; Huawei has completely dispensed with silicone ear tips.
This means the earbuds are unlikely to provide much insulation from the surroundings. Although Huawei advertises active noise cancellation, ANC is generally less effective without passive isolation. However, the designers intended this design to improve comfort when wearing it. Huawei installs a dynamic and a planar driver in each earbud to enable more detailed sound and powerful bass. Huawei advertises a remarkable frequency range of 14 Hz to 48 kHz.
However, while the manufacturer advertises a proprietary Bluetooth codec in China that can transmit music up to 24-bit at 48 kHz at a data rate of 2.3 Mbps, the wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation in this country “only” support SBC, AAC, and Sony LDAC. This means they can transmit music up to 32-bit at 96 kHz, but compressed to a maximum data rate of 990 kbps.
The FreeBuds 6 is said to have a battery life of 4.5 hours with ANC enabled or 27 hours with the charging case, which can be charged via USB-C or wirelessly. The earbuds are IP54 certified and, therefore, protected against rain and sweat.
