Amazon Halo Health Band and Halo Service introduced

Amazon has unveiled Amazon Halo, a service designed to “improve individual health and wellness.” Amazon Halo includes a set of AI-powered features that provide information about overall wellness using the new Amazon Halo app and Amazon Halo Health Band equipped with the required sensors.

Amazon Halo Health Band

The Halo Band is designed specifically for health monitoring – unlike smartwatches and fitness trackers, it has no screen and no notifications. A small sensor capsule provides data collection with an accelerometer, temperature sensor, heart rate monitor, two microphones, an LED indicator, and a button to turn the microphones on or off. The bracelet is waterproof and is minimally felt on the wrist day and night. It lasts up to seven days on a single charge and fully recharges in less than 90 minutes. Customers are offered a choice of fabric straps in three colors, and fabric and silicone straps in 15 more colors are available separately.

The Amazon Halo app is a set of five core features designed to give customers a comprehensive view of their health and wellness, and tools to take action to make tangible improvements. They relate to physical activity, sleep, body fat percentage, social and emotional wellness based on speech sounds. In addition, the Amazon Halo Labs section focuses on “Evidence-Based Challenges, Experiments, and Training,” allowing customers to know what works best for them so they can develop healthier habits. For example, some may find that quitting caffeine in the afternoon improves their sleep quality, or that some workouts at home are more effective than others.

The manufacturer emphasizes the highest degree of confidentiality – all data in Amazon Halo are encrypted during transmission and storage, and customers can download or delete their data at any time directly from the application.

In the US, the device is already offered on an “early access” basis via Amazon.com, when it is enough to pay $65 for it instead of the usual $100. This amount includes six months of Halo membership. Membership is then automatically renewed for $4 per month. Membership provides access to all Amazon Halo features. Without it, only basic data can be seen, including step count, sleep time, and heart rate. Additional straps are available for $16 and $20 each. The Amazon Halo app is available for iOS and Android.

Earlier this week, Fitbit has also introduced three new smartwatches: a new version of the Fitbit Versa and Fitbit Sense smartwatches that brings exciting features, ability to measure the wearer’s skin temperature or track stress, have a battery life of around six days, and More. And the new version of the Fitbit Inspire 2 health tracker with modernized design, brighter display, and longest battery life of all Fitbit products to date.
