Amazon Fire HD 8 2016 Refresh Launched With Bumped-Up Specifications

Fire HD 8 2016 Tablet, a popular and affordable tablet series from Amazon, has launched a refreshed version of its last year’s Fire HD 8 Tablet. The latest iteration features up to 32GB internal storage space while maintaining the same style of the design. Fire HD 8 2016

Starting at $119.99 with special offers, more $30 compared to the last year’s 16GB model with special offers, and $134.99 without special offers. It is available in Black, Magenta, Blue and Tangerine color variants and it can now be ordered via Amazon.com and the device starts shipping from September 21, 2016.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 2016 model features a 8-inch IPS LCD display with (1280 x 800 pixels) resolutions that is rated to deliver a pixel density of 189ppi. It is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core processor that’s teamed up with 1.5 GB of RAM and comes with 32GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 200GB via microSD card.

On the camera front, the Fire HD 8 32GB model flaunts a 2-megapixel primary camera that is capable of recording HD videos. There is a VGA front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.

The device runs on Fire OS 5 based on Android Lollipop out of the box and ready to update to Fire OS 5.4 via OTA software update in the coming days said by the company. Amazon has also added new features like hands-free control to alarms, music, calendar events and other applications. Now new tablet claims to have a battery life of up to 12 hours with mixed usage, compared to previous model (up to 8 hours).

On the connectivity front, Amazon Fire HD 8 includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth with A2DP, USB 2.0, and 3.5 mm audio jack options. It comes with the Amazon Underground app store that offers over 2000 apps, games and even in-app items are actually free.

The tablet measures 214 x 128 x 9.2 mm and weighs 341 grams. It has an integrated stereo speaker with Dolby Audio and also supports an accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.
