Alcatel Go Flip 3 and Alcatel Smart Flip phone are two new flip phone devices with KaiOS and integrated Google Assistant. The two new Alcatel phones include 4G connectivity and Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC, which offers a quad-core CPU.
Google Assistant invokes itself through a dedicated button. It can launch apps, make calls, write messages and search for directions on Google Maps.
Both Alcatel mobile devices have a 2.8-inch display, helped by an external 1.44-inch display. The 1,350mAh battery guarantees a fairly long battery life: up to 7 hours in continuous call with LTE, up to 18 days of standby with 4G or 22 hours with 3G connectivity. The internal storage amounts up to 4GB, expandable via microSD (max 32GB). The rear camera is 2MP. Do not miss the 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB charging port.
The two smart flip phones, whose brand is the property of the Chinese TCL, are essentially twins: the only detail in which they differ is network compatibility. Alcatel Go Flip 3 is designed for the US operator AT&T, while Smart flip phone operates on T-Mobile and Metro frequencies. In other words: these are best flip phone devices dedicated to the United States. We don’t have the prices, at least for now.
HMD Global had also introduced two feature phones: Nokia 2720 Flip and Nokia 800 Tough at IFA 2019. It is however interesting to observe an increase in the popularity of feature phones, especially thanks to KaiOS, an open-source operating system based on Linux, a descendant of Firefox OS, and on which Google has invested a considerable sum of money, becoming its partner.
