Acer started shipping the new version of the Swift 3 laptops which introduced with Ryzen Mobile processors, as you will remember, AMD announced the Ryzen 7 2700U and Ryzen 5 2500U variants back in October. Currently, the laptop is available in the USA in two variants: Acer Swift 3 (SF315-41-R8PP) with Ryzen 5 2500U at $749.99 and Swift 3 (SF315-41-R6J9) with Ryzen 7 2700U at $949.99.
The laptop is characterized by a metal chassis with a thickness of 1.87cm and a weight of 2.2 kg; certainly not a featherweight, but remember that we are facing a laptop with a 15.6-inch display. Speaking of displays, Acer uses FHD IPS panel, managed by the integrated graphics chip with Vega architecture.
Apart from the processors, the two Acer laptops are virtually identical and offer 8GB of DDR4 RAM, SSD storage (Ryzen 5 256GB / Ryzen 7 512GB), WiFi AC, USB 3.1 Type C (gen1), backlit keyboard, stereo speakers and 3320mAh battery.
Recall that the Ryzen Mobile processors are the first AMD solutions to combine the Ryzen processors and the Vega GPUs. Ryzen 7 2700U is a quad-core with a 2.2 GHz SMT (8 thread) that uses a Vega 10 GPU, while Ryzen 5 2500U does not support SMT technology and stops at a base rate of 2 GHz (Vega 8 GPU); both chips have a 15W TDP.
For more details on both Acer Swift 3 laptops, we will leave you with the official Acer website.
