At CES 2024, the Taiwanese company Acer introduced a series of new OLED gaming monitors, including the ultra-wide Acer Predator X 34 X OLED (distinct from the less curved Predator X34 X5, which features different brightness values). This 800r curvature model was recently available in the US, so we would like to take a closer look at it here.
The 34-inch high refresh rate HDR monitor gaming monitor uses OLED technology (probably LG’s WOLED), is curved at 800R, and has a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels (UWQHD, 21:9) at up to 240 Hz. The specs also promise 99 percent DCI-P3, 10-bit color depth, a 0.03 ms fast gray change, and a contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1. The brightness is given as 275 cd/m² (SDR, 100 percent APL), 450 cd/m² or 1300 cd/m² (HDR, 1.5 percent APL).
Two internal 5-watt speakers, FreeSync Premium Pro, DisplayHDR True Black 400, and a KVM switch are included. The interface selection includes two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.2 hub, a headphone output, and USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode and 90-watt PD. The full 240 Hz should be possible on all graphic connections.
The curved gaming display offers tilt, rotation, and height adjustment for optimal ergonomics. It also includes a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount for added flexibility. Given the potential risk of OLED burn-in, the manufacturer’s two-year warranty may feel inadequate.
