To reduce the environmental impact of PC manufacturing, Acer recently announced its first laptop whose chassis is made from recycled materials. The company chose the Chromebook Vero 514 laptop to be the first eco-friendly model because it also features Intel’s low-power Alder Lake-U processors. Acer has announced that it plans to transition all of its production sites to 100% renewable energy by 2035 to help mitigate the impact caused by climate change.

The eco-friendly case on the new Chromebook Acer Vero 514 is made from 30% post-consumer recycled plastic. In addition, the keys are also made of 50% recycled plastic, the touchpad surface is made entirely of plastic collected from the oceans, and the packaging of the device is made of 90% recycled paper. The screen itself is 99% recyclable in the event of a malfunction. Even with so much recycled material and a 0.8-inch profile, the case itself is rugged enough to meet MIL-STD-810H standards.

This Chrome OS device is powered by Intel’s Alder Lake-U processors like the Core i3-1215U, i5-1235U, and i7-1255U with a minimum TDP of 12W and it also includes an optional Pentium Gold 8505 with a TDP of 15 W. These processors can be supplemented with up to 16 GB of LPDDR4X type memory space and up to 256 GB of PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD PCIe 3 0 NVMe.

It also features a 14-inch touch (Corning Gorilla Glass) and non-touch display, with a 1080p 300-nit IPS panel capable of reproducing 100% sRGB. Port selection includes 2 USB-C + 1 USB-A 3.2 connectors, HDMI video output, and an audio jack.
