Google and Acer have teamed up again to launch the high-performance Chromebook Plus 516 GE. It features a 120 Hz QHD display, a fast Intel processor, and an RGB keyboard, all at a price significantly lower than many Windows 11-based gaming laptops.
Acer has introduced a “Gaming Edition” Google AI-powered Chromebook designed to deliver a premium gaming experience. It features an RGB-lit keyboard, quad speakers, and a 16-inch 120 Hz IPS panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display offers a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a brightness of 350 nits.
The Intel Core 7 150U with Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 lacks the power to run demanding games smoothly. However, this isn’t a concern, as gaming Chromebooks are primarily designed for game streaming. These devices are significantly more affordable than most Windows gaming laptops because they lack a dedicated GPU.
Additionally, Wi-Fi 6E ensures relatively low latency for a better streaming experience. Google has also introduced a new Game Dashboard for Chrome OS, complementing the Acer gaming Chromebook.
This enables quick access to gaming features like screen recording, taking screenshots, and adjusting controls. The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE is said to have a battery life of up to 10 hours and is available with up to 16 GB RAM and a 2 TB SSD.

The Acer 16-inch Chromebook for gaming is now available on Newegg, starting at $683.99. The base model features an Intel Core i5-120U processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB SSD.
Asus recently launched the ExpertBook CX54 Chromebook Plus, featuring up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 165U processor, 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM (6,400 MHz), and up to 512 GB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. It also includes an Intel Iris Xe integrated GPU and is now available for $649.99.
