Chinese manufacturers frequently introduce new products, and 7Artisans Photoelectric Technology has unveiled another addition to the lineup of third-party Fujifilm X-mount lenses. The new 7Artisans 35mm F1.4 X is an affordable autofocus lens designed for Fujifilm’s APS-C mirrorless cameras.
It is a classic lens in full-frame equivalent. Its high aperture ratio makes it universal for shooting almost any scene, including in low-light conditions.
The lens has a 7-blade aperture. Its optical design is simple, featuring eight elements arranged in five groups, including one extra-low dispersion lens. True, it claims “premium image quality with high sharpness across the entire frame, accurate color rendition, and beautiful bokeh.” However, MTF charts are not provided.
The manufacturer promises fast and accurate autofocus, powered by an STM motor, and support for focusing on faces and eyes.
The lens has a simple and elegant design. The mount part is made of aluminum alloy, but the body is plastic and weighs only 184 g. The design is weatherproof; the front lens has a fluorine coating to protect against grease and dirt. There is a USB Type-C connector for updating the firmware.

Like all 7Artisans optics, the new lens is very inexpensive—it costs only $169 / £159 on Amazon, making it an affordable solution for beginner photographers who want to try shooting with fixed optics.
Recently, 7artisans also introduced the AF 27mm F2.8 X APS-C lens for the Fujifilm XF mount. It is suitable for shooting various subjects, whether portraits, street landscapes, or macro photography. The lens is quite simple but also very budget-friendly—under $130.
