2nd generation Intel Compute Stick with x5 Atom, M3 and M5 Processor Launched at CES 2016

As promised last year, Intel has officially launched the 2nd generation Compute Stick with more powerful Skylake Core M processor beside Cherry Trail versions. The price of the Atom-based version is $159, while $399 for M3 and $499 for M5 processor.Intel-Compute-StickNew Intel Compute Stick 2nd Gen still has a compact design with 1 HDMI connector, so you can directly plug in monitor or TV without the any separate cables. With a length of only 12cm, Compute Stick integrated complete hardware with processor, RAM, memory, connectivity options and even a small tiny fan to dissipate heat along with improved performance and processor. “Go buy a passive stick and tell me what you think,” Intel’s John Deatherage said.

With the price tag of $ 159, new stick equipped with Intel Atom x5-z8400 (Cherry Trail) processor. Thus, compared with first generation Compute Stick used Atom Z3735F (Bay Trail-T) processor, the Atom x5-Z8400 slightly higher, 1.44 to 1.84 GHz Frequency, 2 MB cache, integrated powerful Intel HD Graphics 200-500 MHz graphics, 2GB of DDR3L-RS RAM, 32GB of memory along with memory card slot up to 128GB. It is 2 times higher performance according to benchmark results given from Intel. The most notable upgrade in Intel Compute Stick version 2 is the integrated USB 3.0 ports in total number of two ports, so you can use for external accessories like keyboard or mouse. On connectivity front, includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 options and Windows 10 OS.

Next, Intel Compute Stick Core M3-6Y30 and Core M5-6Y57 processor 1.1 to 2.8 GHz burst mode with 4GB RAM and 64GB of memory, memory card slot up to 128GB; Intel HD Graphics 515 300 GPU. According to Intel, the Core M3 will be able to play the 4K video at 30 Hz and higher performance compared to Atom version. While Core M5 version additionally supports Intel vPro technology for security. There is only one USB 3.0 port, Intel equipped with two USB ports in its power charger.
