Seagate Unveils IronWolf Pro 20TB Hard Drives with CMR Technology

In response to the growing demand for massive amounts of data storage, Seagate Technology introduced the IronWolf Pro 20TB hard drive, which uses Traditional Magnetic Recording (CMR) technology. According to the manufacturer, they “open up new possibilities for storing large amounts of data.”

The Seagate IronWolf Pro 20TB HDD models are optimized for NAS use. In particular, the built-in rotational vibration sensors and AgileArray technology provide exceptional reliability in RAID operation, even under the highest workloads that can be found in small and medium businesses. These NAS Hard Drive models are rated for 300 TB workloads per year. The data transfer speed reaches 285 MB/s.

The IronWolf Health Management system, which is supported by the new hard drives, makes it possible to monitor their health. The drives are backed by a five-year warranty.

Earlier this year, Synology has announced the HAS5300 series of PC hard drive models. These 3.5-inch drives with 12 Gb/s SAS HDD are designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance, high-capacity, fault-tolerant storage systems.

The HDD drive series includes models HAS5300-8T, HAS5300-12T, and HAS5300-16T in 8, 12, and 16 TB sizes. They complement the Synology HAT5300 line that was introduced in January, which includes 8, 12, and 16 TB SATA hard drives, and pricing starts from $379.99.

Recently, Seagate has introduced the new Star Wars Beskar Ingot family of internal SSD and portable external HDD drive models specifically designed for gaming PCs. Seagate’s fastest M.2 2280 SSD, PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD, is nine times faster than SATA SSD at 7000/6850 MB/s sequential read/write.

The lightweight hard drive does not require configuration when connected, so you can take your entire game library with you. The new external storage drive models are backed by Seagate’s five-year warranty.
