1More EVO Review: 1More’s Best In-Ear Noise Cancelling Earbuds

1More is a manufacturer of more exceptional best in ear noise cancelling earbuds and Bluetooth headphones. So 1More not only rebrands any generic design but develops the best audiophile headphones/earphones themselves. The new flagship from the brand is 1More EVO, and it relies on so-called hybrid dual drivers. Let’s find out more in the 1More EVO review below.

Inside we find two speaker drivers. A classic dynamic driver is as large as 10mm, as well as a balanced armature driver. The latter is somewhat rare and is seldom found in regular consumer products. It alone makes the 1More EVO very exciting. But there is also ANC, “Dual-Mode” transparency mode, and a Hi-Res certification.

It sounds exciting on paper, but what does it look like in practice? Does the 1More EVO sound as exciting here? Let’s see in the 1More EVO review below.

Design

The 1More relies on a very attractive and elegant design for the EVO, which is not overly exclusive. It comes with a medium-size charging box and is made of high-quality matte plastic, at least it looks like it! At a second glance, or rather when you touch it, it becomes clear that the charging box is made of metal, which also makes it a bit more spacious.

Apart from the 1MORE logo on the top, there isn’t much to marvel at on this one. The lid can be opened to remove the earbuds and held in place with the help of magnets.

The charging box is charged via USB C or wirelessly! You can also put the charging box on the wireless charging pad, and it will charge. According to the manufacturer, the charging box can fully charge the earphones 2.5 times.

The earbuds last up to 8 hours on a single charge. Although in practice, it expires after more than 5 hours.

The EVO itself is very attractive and elegantly designed. The earbuds are made from classic matte plastic, but they have a high-gloss coating on the back. It is framed by a silver frame, which almost makes it look like porcelain.

As usual, the earbud surface is touch-sensitive. In the basic form, 1MORE uses the normal earplug design. These are just slightly larger. We wouldn’t call the earbuds huge, but they’re not the smallest you can buy either.

Comfort zone

One of the big plus points of this best noise cancelling Bluetooth earpiece is the wearing comfort. These are the most comfortable earbuds we’ve had in a long time! The fit doesn’t sound extraordinary at first glance, but the EVOs sit great in our ears!

These do not press to penetrate the ear or make us feel uncomfortable in any other way. Perhaps a slightly firmer grip would have been nice for sports, but the wear comfort is great for everyday use.

Sound

Let’s come to the most important point, which is sound. And here we are, positively impressed! The sound of the 1More EVO is good.

However, as is often the case, 1More uses a somewhat more unusual sound signature. EVOs are very neutral, with a slight increase in the lower high and upper mids. The neutral sound is a good thing, but it is very rare with noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones.

But let’s go through the sound, starting with the high. The highs are super clear, sharp, and brilliant. However, these also tend to be a bit sharp, but it’s especially noticeable with electric titles. With pop, rock, metal, etc., it’s less noticeable. Since we like slightly brighter heights, it generally bothers us less. But if you’re not a fan of particularly steep highs, this could be a big hassle for you. However, for us, highs are on point.

The mids are great! These are full, clean, but not overly present. The 1More EVO doesn’t sound high or dull, but voices still have great power and sound just as natural. Again we get a slight increase in the upper mid-range, but it also provides an increased “expansion perception”. Because of this sharpness, the mid sounds are slightly higher than they are. Again, this isn’t a bad thing, but it underlines the slightly sharper character of the EVO.

The EVO’s bass is very neutral. So we have a nice bass with impeccable depth. However, this is not raised or amplified in its mass but sounds natural. It can now be described as unusual, as almost all Bluetooth earphones have a more or less strong bass boost. However, in terms of quality, the 1More EVO’s bass is world-class. The music sounds exactly what you need, and if you need a little more “punch”, no problem 1More app can help you here.

Although the sound in the 1More EVO has a bit more sharpness than perhaps the completely neutral earphones, the EVO still comes close to what we’d call the best audiophile headphones with Bluetooth connectivity. Especially in the lows and mids, the EVOs are super neutral. The highs have a slightly higher “peak”, which gives the noise cancelling ear buds a better representation of details.

It’s also very nice by nature! For example, one song that is a perfect fit for this best in ear noise cancelling earbuds is Camila Cabello’s “Don’t Go Yet”. This song captures the sound signature of the 1More EVO! This slightly light and airy EVO has been perfectly reproduced. However, songs like “Infinity” by Jaymes Young or “In The Dark” by Purple Disco Machine are also great for EVO! If you’re more into rock or metal, we can recommend these earbuds to you. “Oblivion” by Enemy Inside or “The Rising” by Follow the Cipher, for example, also goes well with earbuds, and the guitar sounds in line with EVO in general.

Where we struggle a bit is with electric sounds or drums and bass. Not all of Pendulum’s “Come Alive” songs sound bad either, but here we will prefer more boom in the bass range. Of course, you can help out with the 1More app, but there is better noise cancelling wireless headphones out there.

ANC, Sound adjustment, App

The EVO has app support. The 1More app itself is very simple, you can adjust the sound using SoundID and switch between ANC, “pass-through” mode, and normal mode.

Of course, the 1More EVO comes with active noise cancellation. It’s also quite successful! Don’t expect miracles, hardly any earphones in this range can deliver something like this, but the Evo is among the best in ear noise cancelling earbuds we’ve heard so far. Background noise is filtered out cleanly, especially humming sounds like engines, etc. But there is no annoying white noise etc.

The “pass-through” mode, in which background noise is actively let through, also works properly. Background noise isn’t boosted much, so you can’t use the EVO as a hearing aid, but this mode still feels very natural.

The sound adjustment is interesting. The 1More EVO has NO EQ! Instead, you have SoundID.

It is a kind of AB hearing test. A song is played to you, and you have to decide several times which sound signature you prefer, A or B. The app adjusts bass, treble, etc. accordingly.

1More EVO Review

Here you can see that after our “personal adjustments” the earbuds got a little more bass.

It is ideal, with a fairly neutral sound from the start, and with SoundID, it can be completely tweaked to suit individual tastes. However, we could have wished for an extra classic EQ.

Final line

The 1More EVO is the best in ear noise cancelling earbuds for budget users that 1More has brought to the market. From our point of view, these offer great features. We have super wearing comfort, good ANC, and a very exciting sound!

1More EVO Review

Let’s also start with the sound. The 1More EVO has a fairly neutral sound signature, with a slight tilt towards the top end and perhaps some sharpness. The latter is something that doesn’t bother us, for example. On the contrary, the EVO sounds clean, high-resolution, and airy, without overdoing it in any direction.

That makes the EVO particularly suitable for pop music, rock, metal, and classical music. Guitar and voice, in particular, are good for them. The bass of the earphones is good, but not enhanced. However, if you want, you can also up the bass a bit through the 1More app. If desired, the EVO can also be a bass bomber.

After the “SoundID” adjustment, EVO also has a bit more bass, as we prefer it. Wearing comfort is great too! Although the EVOs are not sports earphones, they sit well and lightly in the ears. Ideal for everyday life, bus, train, etc. We’ll give it full marks here.

ANC and “Pass Through” modes are good too. You should not expect miracles from the ANC, but if you look at the price of this Bluetooth earphone, then it is in the high category. There are also plus points for the app and sound adjustments.

In short, if you are looking for the best in ear noise cancelling earbuds that don’t follow the trend for more and more bass and more extreme sounds, then the 1More EVO might be just the right for you!

1More EVO price and availability

Currently, 1More EVO noise cancelling earbuds are available with massive discounts of up to $30 on Amazon.com and £25 on Amazon.co.uk. It costs $169.99 / £159.99.

While we do recommend the 1More EVO for anyone focused on music listening on a budget, it might be worth considering the Jabra Elite 7 Active (REVIEW), which costs a little more and has active noise cancellation as well as app support with Equalizer.
