Xiaomi users may finally get MIUI split screen multi-tasking and picture-in-picture support on their devices, the next major update of Xiaomi’s MIUI operating system. Gizmochina revealed bits about the company’s MIUI future updates.
The new MIUI split screen feature will allow MIUI-based devices have two apps share the screen, in both portrait and landscape orientations. Then the picture-in-picture will allow apps to minimize into a small box that floats on the display. While both features will be available with the upcoming major MIUI update.
While Xiaomi didn’t directly link split screen multi-tasking functionality on MIUI with Android Nougat update, as per leaked images and the fact it is a major change, it’s likely that it would be introduced in a major update like Android 7.0 Nougat. Obviously, as of now, there is no word whether the feature will be compatible with the all available applications, but Xiaomi’s built-in apps will definitely be compatible with the two new features.
