Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 with 5.5-inch 3D Curved Display, 6GB RAM Announced

Xiaomi has officially announced its new Flagship device – the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 smartphone at a private event in Beijing, China today on 25th October. The smartphone will be available in Glacial Silver and Piano Black color variants. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 price in China is set to Yuan 2799 – approximately $421 USD or 27,623 INR for 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while 6GB RAM + 128GB storage costs Yuan 3299 – approximately $486 USD or 32,558 INR, and the high-end model with 6GB RAM + 256GB storage costs Yuan 3499 – approximately $516 USD or 34,532 INR. All three variants will be available in the next month.

The announcement confirmed the device comes with a 5.7-inch 3D curved dual edge OLED display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, 77.2% screen-to-body ratio, has 110% NTSC color gamut capability. The handset is also protected by 3D curved glass on both front and back side as well.

As for the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is powered by a 2.35GHz quad-core processor that’s backed by a 64-bit Qualxomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, and paired with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of (UFS 2.0) internal storage. There is also 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variants available for users. Mi Note 2

The Mi Note 2 bears a high-end camera setup when it comes equipped with a 23-megapixel Sony IMX318 Exmor RS sensor at the back with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash. For secondary camera, it has an 8-megapixel Sony IMX268 Exmor RS sensor with f/2.0 aperture, and autofocus is also there to capture sharp self-portraits and high quality video calling.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 also supports ultrasonic fingerprint scanner embedded in front Home button similar to Mi 5s (check out Pre-Order price here) and it also sports the Aqstic audio processor, with 192kHz/24-bit Hi-Fi sound quality for an amazing sound experience.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is now running a company’s own MIUI 8 UI -based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, while the The Android 7.0 Nougat-based MIUI 9 has been leaked in recent times, though, so hopefully an end user update won’t be too far off.
